Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. 8
