Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim! 1 This is a revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful. 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say (Prophet Muhammad): 'I am only a human like you, to whom it is revealed that your God is One God. Therefore be straight with Him and ask Him to forgive you. Woe to the idolaters, 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
