Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HaMeem. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 to be a herald of glad tidings as well as a warning. And yet, [whenever this divine writ is offered to men,] most of them turn away, so that they cannot hear [its message]; 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 Indeed for those who believed and did good deeds, is a limitless reward. 8
