Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say: I am only a mortal like you; it is revealed to me that your Allah is one Allah, therefore follow the right way to Him and ask His forgiveness; and woe to the polytheists; 6 Who give not the poor-rate; and they! in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
