Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 Or He may destroy them (by drowning) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much. 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 And those who shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive. 37 who have pledged their obedience to the Lord, who are steadfast in prayer, who conduct their affairs with consultation among themselves, who spend for the cause of God out of what We have given them, 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 Let harm be requited by an equal harm. But whoever pardons and amends will find his reward with God. He does not love the wrongdoers. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 The way of blame is only against those who wrong mankind, and rebel in the earth without justice; these! for them is a torment afflictive. 42 And verily whoso is patient and forgiveth - lo! that, verily, is (of) the steadfast heart of things. 43
