If affliction befalls you, it is what your own hands have earned, but He pardons a lot. 30 Nor can ye frustrate (aught), (fleeing) through the earth; nor have ye, besides Allah, any one to protect or to help. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 Or He can ruin them due to peoples’ sins and He can forgive a great deal. 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 Whatever you have received is just a means of enjoyment for this life but the reward of God for the believers and those who trust in their Lord will be better and everlasting. 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.). 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 Blame attaches only to those who subject people to wrong and commit excesses on earth. A painful chastisement awaits them. 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43
