Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 but not a Prophet came to them, without they mocked at him; 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 And they assign to Him a part of His servants; man, to be sure, is clearly ungrateful. 15
