Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By this luminous Book. 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 And never came there unto them a prophet but they used to mock him. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
