۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 and say, 'What, are our gods better, or he?' They cite not him to thee, save to dispute;. nay, but they are a people contentious. 58 He is purely a bondman (of Ours), whom We have favoured upon, and We made him an extraordinary example for the Descendants of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path. 61 And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy. 62 When Jesus came with clear proof (in support of his truthfulness), he said, "I have come to you with wisdom to clarify for you some of the matters in which you have disputes. Have fear of God and obey me. 63 Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path: 64 But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. 65 They await but the Hour: that it should come upon them of a sudden, while they perceive not. 66 The intimate friends on that Day will be hostile unto one another save the God-fearing. 67
