۞ And when the son of Mary is cited as an example, behold, thy people turn away from it 57 And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people. 58 [As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood,] and whom We made an example for the children of Israel. 59 And if We willed, We could have established angels on the earth instead of you. 60 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 61 And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy. 62 When Jesus came with the signs, he said: "I have come to you with authority, and to explain some thing about which you are at variance. So fear God, and follow me. 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 Then the sects differed among themselves. Woe then unto those who do Wrong because of the torment of an afflictive Day. 65 Are they waiting for the Hour of Doom when the torment will suddenly strike them and they will not even realize from where it came? 66 Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous 67
