and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
