۞ Allah it is He Who has subjected to you the sea, that ships may sail through it by His Command, and that you may seek of His Bounty, and that you may be thankful, 12 And He has made subservient to you, [as a gift] from Himself, all that is in the heavens and on earth: in this, behold, there are messages indeed for people who think! 13 Say unto those who believe, that they forgive those who do not look for the days of God, that He may recompense a people for that they have been earning. 14 One who acts righteously does so for his own benefit and one who commits evil does so against his own soul. To your Lord you will all return. 15 Indeed We endowed the Children of Israel with the Book and Wisdom and Prophethood, and provided them with good things as sustenance, and exalted them above the peoples of the whole world. 16 And We gave them clear indications of the purpose [of faith]; and it was only after all this knowledge had been vouchsafed to them that they began, out of mutual jealousy, to hold divergent views: [but,] verily, thy Sustainer will judge between them on Resurrection Day regarding all whereon they were wont to differ. 17 And then We set you, (O Prophet), on a clear high road in religious matters. So follow that and do not follow the desires of those who do not know. 18 They will be of no use to thee in the sight of Allah: it is only Wrong-doers (that stand as) protectors, one to another: but Allah is the Protector of the Righteous. 19 These are clear evidences to men and a Guidance and Mercy to those of assured Faith. 20 Deem those who commit ill deeds that We shall make them as those who believe and work righteous Works? Equal is their life and their death! How ill they judge! 21
