And certainly We created man, and We know what his mind suggests to him, and We are nearer to him than his life-vein. 16 (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). 17 whatever phrase he utters, an observer is present. 18 The palsy of death will surely come. This is what you wished to avert. 19 The trumpet will be sounded. This is the Day [you were] warned of. 20 And every soul shall come, with it a driver and a witness. 21 Assuredly thou wast in neglect thereof; now We have removed from off thee thy veil, so thy sight Today is piercing. 22 His companion said: “Here is he who was in my charge.” 23 'Cast, you twain, into Gehenna every froward unbeliever, 24 [every] withholder of good [and] sinful aggressor [and] fomentor of distrust [between man and man - everyone] 25 "Who set up another god beside Allah: Throw him into a severe penalty." 26 ۞ His Companion will say: "Our Lord! I did not make him transgress, but he was (himself) far astray." 27 He will say, “Do not dispute before Me – I had already warned you of the punishment.” 28 The Sentence that comes from Me cannot be changed, and I am not unjust (to the least) to the slaves." 29
