Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths. 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
