Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
