Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
