Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 Sent forth from your Lord for the extravagant. 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
