Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned aside to his family secretly and brought a fat (roasted) calf, 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
