AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he went to his home – so he brought a healthy calf. 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 We seized him and his hosts, and cast them all into the sea: and [none but Pharaoh] himself was to blame [for what happened]. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
