The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
