O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 Your religion is but one religion -- and I am your only Lord, therefore, fear Me. 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 So leave them immersed in their heedlessness till an appointed time. 54 Do they think that by all the wealth and offspring with which We provide them 55 Are quickly giving them goodness? In fact, they do not know. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 and do not ascribe partners to Him; 59 And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). 60 Are the ones who hasten to goodness and outpace the others. 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us. 65 My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs 66 Stiff-necked, discoursing thereof by night, reviling. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 or you said that he is possessed by satan? In fact, he has brought you the truth, but most of you dislike it. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; 73 but those who disbelieve the life hereafter deviate from the right path. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 until We opened the gate of greater torment (death) and they suddenly found themselves in despair. 77
