The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount 1 and a Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 The roof raised high, 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
