The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 The roof raised high, 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
