The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 and a Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and the sea swarming, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
