(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Do their minds prompt them to say such things, or are they a people immersed in transgression?” 32 Do they say: “He has himself fabricated the Qur'an?” No; the truth is that they are altogether averse to believing. 33 Then let them bring a discourse like it, if they speak truly. 34 Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or have they a ladder by which they could [ascend to ultimate truths and] listen [to what is beyond the reach of human perception]? Let, then, any of them who have listened [to it] produce a manifest proof [of his knowledge]! 38 Or hath He daughters whereas ye have sons? 39 Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not. 47 So wait patiently for the Judgement of your Lord -- you are certainly under Our watchful eye. And glorify and celebrate the praises of your Lord when you rise up [from your sleep]. 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
