The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the star when it goes down. 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 then came down close 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
