The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 until he was as close to him as the distance of two bows, or even less. 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 By the Lote-tree beyond which none can pass, 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 This indeed is an unjust division! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
