The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
