The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!) 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Or is there for man whatever he wishes? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
