HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 And that to your Lord is the goal- 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
