Al-Najm 3 of 3
(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 from a drop of sperm when it was emitted, 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
