In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
