Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So there covered them that which covered. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 Or do you laugh, and do you not weep 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
