Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
