Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
