Seest thou one who turns back, 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And that it is He Who gave death and gave life? 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
