The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
