The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
