The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
