The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
