He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
