The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
