The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
