The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
