[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Then We sent against them one Shout and they became like the trampled twigs of the (sheep) penbuilder. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 40
