Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 [and so,] behold, We let loose upon them a deadly tempest; and only Lot 's kinsfolk did We save at the break of dawn, 34 through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
