The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He hath created man. 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He spread out the earth for the people. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He hath let loose the two seas. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
