The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
