The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
