The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
